Goldz

Well, the time is coming for all of us zombies to start gathering up stuffz that we'll need. We do need to level up nicely and actually get some pleasure out of it, don't we?
So, let's start by summing what we'll need...
1. Goldz!
2. Matz!
3. Character specific stuffz!

1. Goldz.
Goldz is the most important thing you'll need in order to level any character to any level. It is the honey in the bee hive. The fuel in your old (but sturdy) car. The erm... gold in the leprechaun's pot. >.>
Since the new professions will need like 100g to learn (Grand Master training) and repair bills and mats for leveling up those professions will be very little at start (thus very expensive) you'll need all the goldz you can get!
Now you might ask "But how do we get goldz Mr. Lynxy?" Simple kids. Grind it.
Whatever you might say is your way of getting gold - you are grinding it. Except if you're doing quests of course, but that happens only while we're leveling. I'm yet to see a guy like me that's done 99.98% of the quests in Outland simply becouse they're so fun! ...and give a lot of gold when you're already 70.
But beyond that, there's no other way for you to get goldz without the term "farm" or "grind".
You see, you can get goldz in a couple of ways. To simply randomly kill mobs for their silver/cloth/greys/random drops, to kill specific mobs for their mats/big chance for a specific item or to simply grind up your profession. And of course you can combine these. Then there's the old proven way of stalking the Auction House 24/7 and resell things you find that are priced incorrectly. Since recently we can now farm dungeons as well for Badges of Justice with which you can buy Primal Nethers, Nether Vortexes and of course - EPIC GEMS! All of which are free to sell on the Auction House.
That's a lot of ways to get gold! So if you have 20g and are saying there's no way you can increase that becouse of your healing spec or some other lame excuse then you can't be more pathetic.
No, there's no way you can make gold from Battlegrounds and Arena. Unless of course you're selling Arena scams. Which automatically makes me hate you. Please go die in a fire.

A good way for me is to grind my profession, since I'm a jewelcrafter. If you're a leatherworker it might be a bit harder for you to get your wind scales or 25man recipes. Well, bad for you then, get a more profitable profession. Like jewelcrafting! Now that green gems are again mined from normal nods JC has become a very good thing to have. And with the small chance of an epic gem coming out of a couple of green ones... what more can you want from a profession? Other professions of course have their chance of making gold. Enchanters can sell their mats or make enchants (which is actually kind of a rare thing lately). Tailors can sell their sets and spell damage/healing kits. Leatherworkers can sell their... 4-5 epic items, kits and drums. Alchemists sell their millions of potions, elixirs and flasks. And all gatehring professions sell pretty good! An excellent way to get lots of gold is to make an alt with 2 gathering professions but you'll need a good flying mount to increase that income. Trust me, you do. But with those mining and herbalism you'll get those 5000 gold back in less then a week (assuming you have the brains for it).
The Auction House is crawling with stuff that people don't "understand". There's lots of people new to the game that don't know just how good That blue item sells to twinks. Or just HOW rare that Hyacinth Macaw is. Or possibly that Primal Shadows now DO sell for 30+ gold. You can just focus on 10-15 items and browse them daily for reselling. Profit is inevitable.
Farming Primals on the other hand has always had the reputation of the best thing to grind. Specifically Primal Air. Well too bad that there's only 2 locations where you can farm those. That's Nagrand's Elemental Plateau and the south part of Shadowmoon Valley where Teron's former self dwells. Almost all other primals are way more easy to grind but sadly Blizz have decided to stick mostly to Primal Airs in their most needed enchants/recipes.
But let's talk a bit about farming dungeons. Is it really that profitable? I doubt you'll ever buy a Nether or Vortex with your hard earned Badges when you can get an epic gem and sell it for a price with 1 more digit in it. 1 dungeon is most commonly equal to 3 badges. In some rare cases up to 5. But it takes a skilled group and some patiance to farm these all day since they're not really that quick to farm. Karazhan though is a must if you're into Badge farming. 22 Badges for 3 hours + ??? = profit.
Top raiding guilds of course make a lot of Badges as well, if they farm BT in one night, that's 9 bosses x2 Badges per boss = 18 badges for a night. That is still a very good investment and a full epic gem from just one run. So you're best chance to farm for these without actually "farming" for them is to be a top raider! Yey! I want to be one as well!
But no, most WoW players just decide to stick to farmin honor all day for that item that will increase their agility by 3... and resilience by 50. But then again, you don't really need gold when PVPing right? This blog though will stick mostly to PVE, so you PVP guys can just make like a tree, and feck off.

That's the end of part one, and what you'll need to have to prepare for the LK. Stay in touch for part two - Matz!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://pewpew-ish.blogspot.com/2008/08/preparing-for-lich-king-pt-1-goldz.html' title='Preparing for the Lich King pt. 1.
